In order for a trust to hold property, it must be identifiable. You don't have to give your trust your full family name, but it's important to make it something identifiable.
The name can be anything you like - long, short, simple or complex. Keep in mind that the name will be in the title of any asset held in the trust.More info about Trust Names.
The Settlor is the person who creates the trust. The settlor is also the primary Trustee for a gun trust.
A Trustee is a person who manages assets in a trust. If a trust has multiple Trustees, making changes to the trust requires a majority vote of all Co-Trustees. It's not uncommon for a married couple to set up their gun trust with one Trustee (the Settlor), and have the spouse named as a Successor. This allows changes to be made without both parties needing to be present.More info about Settlors and Trustees.
If the Trustee(s) become incapacitated, the Successor will step in and take full control of the trust. A successor will be able to do anything a Trustee can do with the trust assets. If the Trustee(s) are no longer living, the Successor takes on the role of Executor.
A Beneficiary is the person for whom a trust is created. For most gun trusts, Trustee(s) name beneficiaries and assign property to be distributed to them in the event of incapacitation or death.More info about Successors.
This is where the trust will be established (called Situs), and which court will have jurisdiction over it.
This is usually where the Settlor or Trustee(s) live, but it isn't required to be. This allows you to define which law of the land you want the trust to be bound to.More info about Situs.
